Genesis 46:1  “…came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices…”
Stop along the way to worship.  He took time for God, and God used the time to share with him.

4  “I will go down with you to Egypt…”
Can we fear to go anywhere on this planet knowing that God is with us as we go?  Actually, He is everywhere so we’re only going where He already is.  He doesn’t really say go there, but come here.

6  “..their livestock and their goods…”
Not just the people with a few of their things.  All of them with all of their stuff.  Being nomadic has its advantages.

26  “…sixty-six persons in all”
Quite a lot to make the journey.  Then you have Joseph’s family already there so seventy all together.  And we discover that Benjamin wasn’t a very young man, just the youngest.  He already had a wife and children.

28  “…he sent Judah before him…to point out…the way to Goshen…”
Interesting note.  Judah was the one to check with Joseph about the way.  His descendant would later be the one to provide the way for us.  The land of Goshen was area east of Egypt.  Large areas to raise sheep.

34  “…that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians”
Joseph was providing not only for their physical needs, a place to stay and to be able to keep their possessions, but also a way to keep them separate from the Egyptians.  As long as they were away from the main cities, they should be able to coexist with the Egyptians without too much bad influence.  Unfortunately, much of that would pass after Joseph died, but God was still in control, and His plans were not thwarted.  They never are.

I hope you enjoy reading and studying His word.  May it accomplish what He desires.  Please feel free to comment or post questions.  Thanks for reading!
